Telecom's ICT services arm, Gen-i, has launched its own video communication services based on Cisco and Polycom technology.

The ReadyCloud Video software is a network-delivered conferencing solution fully managed by Gen-i and hosted in its local Tier-3 datacentres.

The service is available on a per month per subscription basis. Gen-i claims customers can leverage existing video endpoints and hardware to use ReadyCloud Video, and scale services both up and down as required.

Gen-i WAN clients can use the service over their existing network.

According to chief operating officer (COO), Jo Allison, ReadyCloud Video complements Gen-i's other core Cloud services, ReadyCloud Collaboration and ReadyCloud Mobility.

"Following the acquisition of our sister company Revera last year, Gen-i has focused on delivering Cloud services that respond to the increasingly mobile-centric business environment, and deliver greater efficiency, agility and flexibility for our clients," Allison said.

"With video communication becoming more prevalent, it made sense to bring a Cloud video service to market that delivers these business benefits."
