MCV reports that we can expect to see a Rambo-based video game hit store shelves at some point next year, courtesy of the UK's Reef Entertainment.
There are no details on the game as yet, but according to Craig Lewis, commercial director at Reef, it will be a "triple-A title on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC and will capture the gritty atmosphere and full-on action which made the Rambo movies so successful."
"I am a big fan of Sylvester Stallone movies," said Reef Entertainment CEO Peter Rezon. "When we had the opportunity to secure the video game rights from StudioCanal for the Rambo franchise, we had to grab it with both hands. With the success of the most recent Rambo film, and an international appetite for action movies with Expendables 2 scheduled for release next summer, we felt now was a good time to do something special with this license."
I'm not sure there's ever a bad time to do something with a license that largely revolves around the video game staple of shooting people with guns. But it will be nice to see Rambo in a game again -- the last time we saw him was way back in 1990 on every platform under the sun, from the ZX Spectrum to the Genesis via the Amiga.
