The casual gaming behemoth has announced an exclusive arrangement with Amazon.com for the distribution of its games to Android devices.
PopCap announced today that it will be bringing its first Android games to the Amazon Appstore for Android exclusively for two different two-week periods. Chuzzle will be available exclusively from the Amazon Appstore from tomorrow until May 30, while Plants vs. Zombies will come later this month for a similar two-week period. After the exclusivity periods are up, expect the PopCap games to become available on alternative distribution platforms.
Under the terms of the agreement, the two games will be completely free for their first day of availability, then $2.99 thereafter.
"Our relationship with Amazon is pivotal to PopCap's overall strategy in bringing a growing roster of mobile titles to the ever-widening base of smartphone users," said Giordano Bruno Contestabile, PopCap's senior director of global product and business strategy for mobile. "By making these titles available on the Android platform, we'll significantly extend the reach of our top franchises to legions of new mobile customers and gaming fans alike."
Watch out, Android users. When portable Peggle hits, you're all in a lot of trouble.
