If you're the kind of Call of Duty player who's always thinking about ways to get the most out of your multiplayer loadout -- on the bus, at work, during dinner dates -- then you can finally do something about it without being anywhere near your console.
As announced at XP 2011, the Los Angeles Call of Duty event that's been circling the news tickers for the last day, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is going to be rolling an app that lets you modify your weapons and gear while outside the actual game.
More interesting is that there's a version of this app heading to mobile phones, specifically your iPhone and Android devices. It's free to download, too, and all you need is your login information to access the app. We're assuming that it'll be a uniform log-in structure for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 users, although Elite subscribers will have more content from the app than "free" users.
Just as a point of contention, doesn't paying $60 for a video game kind of eliminate the notion of you playing the game for "free"?
