One of Halo 4's creative directors at Microsoft's Halo studio 343 Industries has quit the project. Ryan Payton is leaving behind the studio and the project to start up his own studio, known as Camouflaj.
"I had a great run at Microsoft," Payton told Kotaku. "I don't regret one day of it. But after a few years, there came a point where I wasn't creatively excited about the project any more. The Halo I wanted to build was fundamentally different, and I don't think I had built enough credibility to see such a crazy endeavor through."
Payton previously worked for Kojima Productions during Metal Gear Solid 4's development, but left in 2008 after news of his mother's illness. Having now left 343 Industries, he intends to use his new studio Camouflaj to work on two new as yet unannounced projects.
"Time is the most valuable thing we have," he said. "And I've decided that I'm not going to waste one more day working on something that doesn't speak to my values."
