Disney Universe casts players in the role of cute, customizable characters who can dress up in Disney character costumes, and challenges them to explore a variety of worlds inspired by both animated and live action films from Disney and Pixar. The game promises 4-player cooperative and competitive gaming, a dynamic difficulty level and over 40 character costumes, including Alice (the "In Wonderland" variety rather than the "Madness Returns" alternative); Mike from Monsters Inc.; Tron from, err, Tron; and Stitch from Lilo and Stitch.
Players explore six different worlds, each inspired by Disney and Pixar films, with the world's objectives following the movie plotlines. The costumes grant special powers to characters, and grow in strength throughout the course of play.
Disney promises that the Disney Universe will continue to expand post-launch, with new items, worlds and other content to be made available via DLC.
Jon Burton, Design Director of Traveller's Tales, has accused the game of being a "rip off" of the Lego games and LittleBigPlanet via Twitter. "Best of luck to them," he added.
Expect more details about the game on June 7, according to the official website.
