Deus Ex: Human Revolution has a lot riding on its shoulders. After a critically-acclaimed first game and a console-centric sequel that received a somewhat mixed reception, many gamers are hoping the third entry will be a return to form for the series. So far it's been looking good, but there's a perhaps justifiable sense of caution surrounding the project until we finally get to play it properly.

Square Enix and Eidos Montreal have confirmed that it won't be too long now until we get the chance to do just that -- the game has gone gold, meaning the development side of production is finished and it's on to manufacture and duplication for physical products and the preparation for the launch marketing push in the case of digital releases.

"We couldn't be more excited that Deus Ex: Human Revolution has gone gold and will soon be in the hands of expectant gamers," said Stephane D'Astous, general manager of Eidos Montreal. "As the first release for Eidos Montreal, it's impossible to express how extremely proud we are of the final product and all of the hard work that went into its creation."

Deus Ex: Human Revolution will be available from August 23 on PS3, Xbox 360, PC and, notably, OnLive. Watch out for the GamePro verdict soon.
