The Halo franchise may be passing out of the hands of long-time caretaker Bungie, but the formerly Microsoft-exclusive dev is going into their 20th year strong. To celebrate both their anniversary, Halo's 10 year anniversary, and the unveiling of their next big project, the company is hosting a huge fan event from June 23 to July 7.
As laid out on their official site Bungie will be holding auctions of rare memorabilia and sales on items in the Bungie store (with proceeds going to Child's Play and the Bungie Foundation). But most interestingly, at some point during that week the company is going to "tell you, in explicit detail, exactly what Bungie Aerospace is all about." We'll be paying close attention to their announcements (and, of course, taking part ourselves...who doesn't have time for a few multiplayer Halo matches), so if you can't join in yourself, keep an eye on GamePro to learn the latest developments.
And don't forget the steak. On the final day of festivities, July 7, Bungie will be hosting a "24-hour Bungie vs. the World No Holds Barred Halo: Reach Marathon" where any team who beats the Bungie team by 20 kills or more will win "a Grade-A cut of steak (gift cards for international players) while supplies last." Altogether, it sounds like it's going to be a fitting last hurrah for the Xbox's most defining franchise and the team behind it.
