Cloud provider Virtual Ark has won plaudits for helping retailer Coles develop its hybrid Cloud strategy with the help of its Application Management platform.
Virtual Ark has won the Coles IT vendor of the year Award for 2013.
It was one of just four IT awards presented at an annual event attended by more than 100 people from many of Australia's largest IT firms.
Coles general manager, infrastructure and operations, Ken Harmsworth said that such innovative projects - undertaken in a spirit of partnership - was the direction the company would be heading in the future.
Established in 2009, Virtual Ark is a subsidiary of CloudTech Group Limited.
Virtual Ark delivers Cloud with its Application Management Platform (AMP) to manage any application on-demand through the Cloud with efficiency, scalability and security.
According to a company statement, Virtual Ark has invested millions of dollars in building this secure platform.
AMP integrates tools for monitoring, billing, security, backup, with the IT processes required for efficient, reliable and secure Cloud application enablement and delivery.
Virtual Ark chief executive Marty Gauvin said his company had assisted Coles to develop a standards-based, scalable hybrid Cloud architecture and tools.
"This incorporates significant levels of automation and flexibility, allowing the migration of over 600 diverse workloads," he said.
"The Cloud environment provides the underpinning for Coles IT to reduce server deployment times from weeks to days and, over time, save millions of dollars. It also provides application teams control and flexibility over their infrastructure."
