You hear a lot of talk about challenging times and depressed markets when you hang around the HDTV booths at CES 2013. But not from Vizio. The company is expanding their business with touch-sensitive laptops, desktops and Windows 8 tablets, but they haven't forgotten their roots. Vizio is bringing a bumper crop of new HDTVs to market in 2013, serving up models with Ultra HD resolution, Smart TV features, and the occasional gigantic 80-inch display.
Let's start with the M-Series, Vizio's refreshed line of LED Smart TVs that sport the bright screens and minimalist metal chassis we've come to expect from Vizio engineers. The M-Series covers a wide spectrum of prices, starting with a $400, 32-inch LED Smart TV and closing out with a gigantic 80-inch 3D LED Smart TV for over $4,500. To justify the Smart TV moniker every M-series unit comes with Vizio Internet Apps like Netflix, Pandora and Facebook.
If you want something a little more futuristic, keep an eye peeled for Vizio's XVT line of ultra high-definition 3D LED TVs. With 55-inch, 65-inch and 70-inch models hitting the market this year the XVT line doesn't run quite as big as the M-Series, but they make up for it with displays that sport four times the resolution of a standard 1080p TV. At the moment it's awfully difficult (read: impossible) to actually find any Ultra HD-quality video to watch on an Ultra HDTV, but while you wait for content makers to jump on the 4k resolution bandwagon the XVT models can upscale HD movies and games you already own to make them look brighter, smoother and really pretty. We won't know how much it costs to own a Vizio XVT-Series Ultra HD Razor LED Smart TV w/ Theater 3D until we get closer to their launch later this year, but it's probably a price worth paying for early adopters eager to get a glimpse of what the future looks like in glorious 4K HD.
