John Lewis has announced that it will offer a minimum two year guarantee on all electrical products.
The retailer said it is the first to offer its customers the lengthy guarantee and it will do so at no extra cost. The offer will start on 10 October but most items have already had the improvement applied in store and online.
Ed Connolly, buying director of electricals and home technology at John Lewis, said: "There is a lack of transparency across electricals guarantees. The vast majority of consumers don’t understand guarantees and are frustrated by the complexity that surrounds them. We’re making it our mission to bring the John Lewis level of excellence and trust to electricals guarantees, which is why we’re introducing a minimum two-year guarantee on all our products at no extra cost."
The launch is being backed with a £2 million marketing campaign including online, press, radio, outdoor and digital activity.
The company wants to make it easier for consumers buying electrical items and will replace broken goods with the same or similar model if they can't be repaired. Damage caused by accidents or misuse are not covered.
"Our minimum two-year guarantee offer is proof of how much we believe in the quality of products we sell. When our guarantee offer is combined with our Never Knowingly Undersold price promise we’re confident that customers won’t find better value for money anywhere else on the high street." added Connolly.
