Samsung unveiled an upgraded version of its Photo Yepp digital music player at the CeBit trade show this week. The revamped device sports built-in memory and a better display and, like the original, it can also show still images while music or other audio is played.
The company has also added support for WMA (Windows Media Audio) format to the device's existing MP3 capabilities. Samsung's Photo Yepp II comes with 64MB of built-in memory and an additional 192MB SmartMedia memory card can be inserted – making enough room for around three hours of MP3 music.
The 2in colour-reflective LCD (liquid crystal display) has been swapped for a 1.8in colour TFT (thin film transistor) LCD with backlight. Like the original, the Yepp II has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery which you will be glad of if you're running that power-sucking LCD all the time.
There's good news, too, for PC owners. Samsung has removed the old docking station allowing the Yepp to connect directly to a desktop computer via USB.
