Sony plans to make a push for European small and medium-size business PC users with new Vaio PCs and a revamped European partner website.
The company’s new VGN-FS series notebooks, to be launched in the next few months, will come with Sony's X-black LCD (liquid crystal display) technology, which improves the image quality of standard notebook displays, according to the company.
Sony will also offer business customers in the UK, France and Germany a premium warranty program that will identify a repair time for nonworking systems.
Sony's partners also have a new website helping them to deliver these new products and services to businesses.
Partners will be able to log into the Web site (www.sony1.net) and access a wide variety of information and training resources.
Sony announced these plans in a pre-show press conference at the CeBit electronics show in Hanover, Germany. The company is showcasing a wide variety of its consumer products at its enormous booth at the show, including its new Walkman MP3 players.
Wolfdieter Greiss, managing director of Sony Germany, revealed a business-card size Cybershot digital camera during his comments to the media. At its thinnest point, the Cybershot T7 is just 9.8mm thick. It includes a 5.1Mp camera and a 2.5in LCD screen. Pricing or distribution information was not immediately available.
