Ending months of speculation Sony has confirmed it will be bringing its desktop PC range to the UK.
The consumer electronic manufacturer will start selling its desktop range this spring, supplementing its popular line of Vaio notebooks.
The Vaio-branded PC's have been available in the US and Japan since 1996 and have proved popular with the amateur video editing community.
Coinciding with the arrival of the desktop PC range, Sony is rolling out a direct buying program called VaioDirect. It will sell notebooks, PC's as well as accessories such as the Memory Stick Walkman.
According to a spokesman, Sony plans to sell the new PC's like their notebooks, not on specification but on exclusive software applications. MovieShaker, for example, allows people to create their own videos with relative ease.
Sony also announced plans to launch another WAP phone before the end of the year.
The CMD J5 will feature a speakerphone and a sample function to allow users to record their own personalised ringing tones.
