Dan customers left without a warranty following the collapse of the PC company back in June have been thrown a lifeline - but they will have to pay for it.

Dan's receivers, BDO Stoy Hayward, approached specialist support company Reboot asking if it could provide support for the many customers whose warranties were lost when the company went down.

Reboot will initially be offering technical support via a premium rate phone line, but customers who sign up within the next 30 days will also be able to purchase full onsite support at a discounted cost of £9.99 (ex VAT) per month. This service is normally £12.75 per month.

Reboot sales and operations manager, Hamish Kirkland, says all Dan customers will receive a letter detailing the offer before the 30 days is up.

Reboot has plenty of experience of dealing with support for defunct PC companies as many of its 20,000 customers bought from Tiny and lost their warranties in the same way as Dan's when the company went bust.
