Industry rumours about Acer Australia ceasing production of PCs for schools, corporations and governments are false, according to Acer Oceanic region managing director, Charles Chung.
Several industry publications made the claim recently, as well as alleged the "mass sackings" have taken place at the vendor due to internal discontent and in-fighting.

When asked about the claims, Chung said they were "false and libellous" as the vendor has no plans to slow down its production capacity, let alone stopping it.
"We are the only company that invested heavily in a local assembly line in Australia allowing us to serve our channel partners and corporate, government, and education customers efficiently," he said.
"I'd like to give you this assurance that Acer Australia highly values our customers that it is business as usual and we can meet and exceed your requirements when it comes to product quality, service and support."
As for the allegations about the internal strife at Acer Australia , Chung said no "mass sackings" have taken place, though he admits that some staff were recently let go.
"As with any large company, we periodically and routinely assess staff performance and business requirements," he said. Channel dump, retail push?
From a channel perspective, there was a rumour that Chung was laying the foundations of moving the vendor to a retail only model, an assertion that Chung denies.
"We rely on our channel partners for the success of our business," he said.
"We have no plans to move to a retail only model."
The vendor recently launched Acer Stands at retailer outlets in New South Wales, which some industry insiders construed as a push into retail, though Chung said that is not the case.
"The Acer Stand was devised as a marketing tool to support our retail partners by raising awareness of the Acer brand," he said.
"We have very strong commercial and education business, and we are not planning any changes to the way we currently do business."
As for claims about Acer scaling down all of its field service operations, Chung said the opposite is true and that the vendor has expanded its field service operations across Australia in the last 12 months.
