Dell's Adamo XPS laptop goes onsale in the UK today, but only at John Lewis. The Adamo XPS is a 13.4in screen laptop that's an incredibly thin 9.9mm thick - significantly slimmer than that of the MacBook Air.

A radically design departure for Dell, there's an even a technological solution for opening the Adamo XPS' case.

Dell Adamo XPS ultraportable laptop"With the swipe of a finger, the keyboard appears from under the display as the system is opened," reads the laptop description. The incredibly thin laptop has a full-size keyboard with aluminium keys and a touchpad area that supports gestures. The 16:9 aspect ratio widescreen display is described as high-definition but actually offers 720p resolution.

Weighing 1.4kg, the £1,750 laptop runs Windows 7, has a 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4GB of RAM. Wi-Fi, webcam and the usual media card slots are all present and correct.

John Lewis will be the only UK retailer to offer the Dell Adamo XPS this side of Christmas.
