BBC Sport has extended its use of video-messaging to allow fans to give almost instant feedback on on-field events. Video-messaging provider VoxSurf announced yesterday that the Beeb has deployed its technology to power a trial called Your Shout! This feature allows football fans to send in video messages with their opinions during crucial matches and Football Focus broadcasts.

Simply by making a video call to 62001 and following the onscreen instructions footie fans can leave their comments. The best content is then broadcast on live TV during and after matches which are being covered live. Selected videos will also be available on the BBC Sport website.

The trial is based on a customised version of VoxSurf's VxOne video-messaging technology. Once messages are received they are immediately sent to the Match of the Day editorial team as emails. The system retains the caller's number, enabling them to be contacted for further opinions or quotes.

This extends BBC Sport’s previous usage of video-messaging, which was already being used on Football Focus, the BBC’s Saturday lunchtime football show. Video clips are submitted to the programme and then broadcast the following week, as well as on the Football Focus website.
