Tiscali has launched a music download service.

According to the ISP, which was recently purchased by the TalkTalk Group, its Music for Life service is being offered in partnership with eMusic and has a catalogue of 6.5 million tracks.

Johnny Cash, Paul Weller and The White Stripes are among the artists featured on Music for Life.

Subscription packages range from £9.99 to £24.99 per month and allow users to download between 24 and 75 256kbps Variable Bit Rate (VBR) MP3s each month.

Tiscali is also giving users a 14-day trial of the service along with 50 free downloads. Any customer that chooses to cancel after the free trial can keep the tracks they have downloaded.

Music for Life also offers related content from sites such as YouTube and Wikipedia.

Tiscali said the DRM-free tracks can be transferred to any personal music player or burnt to CD.

Neal McCleave, senior director of online at TalkTalk Group, said: "We are always looking for ways to enhance our portal and offer the best services to our six million users. The Music for Life service will be a great boost to our entertainment content and offers a huge range of tracks at very competitive prices".
