So there's a new computer virus out there "eating" MP3 files.

Digital-music libraries everywhere will be wiped. The digital music revolution is over, cassettes will return. CDs are back!

Except that most digital music owners have iPods. iPods use AAC not MP3 as a default. Apple's iTunes Music Store sells protected AAC files.

So it won't do much damage. And finally Apple can explain why it's OK to use a proprietary digital format rather than the industry standard.

I'm only surprised that it doesn't affect Windows Media files instead.

Is this a first – a PC virus that doesn't affect Microsoft files?
