Apple's UK iTunes Store is now offering a more varied selection of popular and cult television shows in high definition (HD).

Last month cult hit Lost made its debut on iTunes, with season 5 available as a series or individual episodes.

Season 5 has been joined by Lost season 1 (£29.99), season 2 (£29.99), season 3 (£41.99) and season 4 (£33.99).

On average HD Lost will cost an additional £10 compared to the already available standard television download, although season 3 costs an additional £14.

iTunes HDAs a comparison, Lost seasons 1-4 in HD will set you back £136, compared with around £100 for the DVD box set complete with numerous extras.

Other popular and cult US shows include Battlestar Galactica, Heroes, 30 Rock, the US version of The Office, medical dramas Grey's Anatomy and House, Eureka, Psych, Dirty Sexy Money, Lipstick Jungle, Ugly Betty and Private Practice.

The BBC's Gavin and Stacey, featuring Rob Brydon and Ruth Jones, costs £17.43 for season 2. Planet Earth, another firm BBC favourite, costs £24.99 in HD for season 1.
