Walk within a mile of a dark alley with your iPod on show, and you’re asking for trouble. Or so the story goes. Barely a week goes by without an iPod street crime news story popping up in the national press, and iPod accessory maker Griffin Technology has had enough. “Is this unnecessary scaremongering or a valid threat?” asks Griffin PR man David Fanning, who has commissioned a survey seeking to get to the bottom of the perceived iPod crimewave.

Griffin is offering five £100 bundles of iPod accessories as an incentive to encourage you to tell them how and where you use your iPod, and what precautions you take when listening to your favourite tracks while out and about.

It's hoped your feedback will help identify which areas your iPod is in greatest danger, and successful methods of securing it and avoiding crime.
