It’s amazing how quickly your PC can start to behave sluggishly as detritus piles up. PC Performance Toolkit contains all the tools you need to quickly clear out various parts of your system, plus reorganise files and even the Windows Registry itself to reclaim some of that lost performance.
The program is split into three broad sections: optimise, maintain and recover. The Optimise section is where you regain lost performance through Registry cleaning and defragmenting, file cleaning and shredding (for those with sensitive data), Services tuneup and a one-click optimisation that performs various tweaks for you.
Select Maintain to keep your PC in good running order: from here you can check your hard drive’s health, plus defragment your drive. You can also manage your startup entries from here – you might be surprised what’s loading with Windows; disabling unwanted programs not only speeds up your startup times, but also frees up valuable memory, resulting in better performance.
Finally, use Recover to attempt to restore files you’ve recently deleted by mistake, plus undo changes made by the program that didn’t work out (Registry cleaning can sometimes create problems, not fix them).
Everything is easily accessible from a user-friendly interface, and it won’t take you long to recover that performance you thought had been lost forever. Experienced users will probably already have access to free versions of these tools, but if you want a simple, no-nonsense one-stop shop for quickly optimising your PC.
There’s nothing here that can’t be found elsewhere for free, but it wraps up a selection of useful tools in a user-friendly interface.
