Smart home tech is getting bigger and bigger every year. What started out as just turning on your lights from an app has extended to smart heating, security, and even kitchens, while virtual assistants like Amazon Alexa and Siri are now trying to work their way into every room in your home.

Still, replacing every appliance you own with a smart version could quickly get very expensive, so it's no surprise that all eyes are on Black Friday for the chance to pick up some smart tech at smart prices. With Black Friday itself just around the corner on 24 November, and sales actually starting already, we'll be rounding up the best savings we can find right here.

Best smart home deals right now

We still have a little while to wait for Black Friday 2017 to arrive on 24 November, but deals have already kicked off from several major retailers, with more sure to follow. We've gathered up the best smart home deals that are live right now - and you can head to our deals site to find more of our curated picks.

What to expect

Going by last Black Friday, you should be able to expect some massive discounts on smart home tech across the board - in fact some smart devices were among last year's biggest sellers, so we think smart tech will be even more discounted this year.

First up, smart speakers like the Amazon Echo and Google Home will see price cuts everywhere, especially as Amazon and Google duke it out to provide your virtual assistant of choice. They'll also both be keen to get as many smart devices into homes as possible before Apple's HomePod arrives in December, so we're expecting deep price cuts - especially on the budget Echo Dot and Home Mini devices.

In fact, those have been the first devices to see discounts this year. The Echo Dot has dropped to £34.99, with the Home Mini dropping to be just cheaper at £34. Their bigger siblings are discounted too, with the Echo 2 down from £89.99 to £69.99, and the Google Home down from £129 to £78 at Currys.

Third-party speaker manufacturers with smart support should also offer discounts, though they'll likely be less aggressive. More expensive smart home products like thermostats and full lighting kits should see big offers, but keep an eye on smaller products like smart plugs or single smart bulbs - these were some of the biggest sellers on Black Friday 2016 and Prime Day 2017, and with £5 or £10 off per unit, it's a brilliant time to stock up.

Amazon is already offering a TP-Link smart plug for just £9.99 if you buy it with an Echo device, while Argos has some great reductions if you buy an Echo Dot together with two TP-Link smart bulbs or smart plugs. One of the best standalone offers so far is a Hive smart thermostat at £54 off, while smart home beginners can pick up a Samsung starter kit at half-price.

Of course, it won't end with Black Friday (or even really begin then). Deals will arrive throughout Black Friday week, and continue over the weekend to Cyber Monday on 27 November - and in some cases through to the end of the month, or even beyond into the Christmas season.
